Dear Mr. Weiss:
We are writing to request 181, 810 sixty-five (65) milligram tablets for stockpiling and distribution to North Carolina's child and teen-age populations within the I /-mile Emergency Planning Zones (EPZ) of the four nuclear power plants in or adjacent to North Carolina.
The request for 187,500 tablets is based on the following:
We calculated the proportion of North Carolina's population age 0 to 18 years old (the age group for which 65 mg is recommended) to be 25% based on Year 2002 North Carolina Demographic Data. We then applied that percentage to the most recent nuclear power plant-specific 10-mile EPZ population estimates below and multiplied by two (two tablets per individual 0-18 yrs) to determine the total number of tablets.

Because we would like to begin distribution to child care centers in early May, delivery by May 1, 2004 would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Dr. Haas in advance to let us know roughly the date of delivery. The potassium iodide should be shipped to the following address:
