SUMMARY
OF APRIL 6, 2004, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH ROCHESTER GAS AND ELECTRIC CORPORATION On April 6, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Ontario Golf Club, Ontario, NY, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RG&E). The NRC requested the meeting with RG&E management to discuss NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant (Ginna) for calendar year 2003.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Ginna for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2003. The NRC presentation included background on the plant, performance assessment results, an overview of calendar year 2004 planned inspections and oversight, and a discussion of general NRC issues. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, RG&E presented an overview of their performance.
The public observed this meeting and was offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding RG&Es performance at Ginna and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. At the end of the meeting between the NRC and RG&E, the NRC answered questions from the public for approximately one hour.
