Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 Security Plans San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3 Gentlemen:
Southern California Edison (SCE) is taking action to prepare and implement new security plans in accordance with the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Order EA-03-086 (NRC Order). One of the actions required by the NRC Order is the procurement and use of certain security apparatus for which federal authorization is needed. The enclosure to this letter provides details of SCE's request for NRC concurrence and approval.
The NRC's concurrence and approval of SCE's request is required by May 15, 2004 in order for SCE to implement the new security plans by October 29, 2004.
Note that the enclosure to this letter is marked 'Official Use Only" and should be withheld from public disclosure in accordance with 10 CFR § 2.790(d)(1).
