I would like to personally invite you and other members of your organization to attend a meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., in which the NRC staff will discuss with Entergy our annual assessment of the safety performance of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.

The meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the John Carver Inn, 25 Summer Street in Plymouth, Massachusetts. At the meeting we will briefly discuss our Reactor Oversight Process and then discuss with Enterfy our assessment of the safety performance of Pilgrim and their response to our assessment. The meeting is open to the public for observation. Following the presentation, the NRC staff will be available to answer questions from you and members of the public regarding the safety performance of Pilgrim and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations.

The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. We described our assessment results in a letter to Entergy on March 2, 2004. A copy of that letter is enclosed. I would like to personally invite you and other members of your organization to attend a meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., in which the NRC staff will discuss with Entergy our annual assessment of the safety performance of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.

The meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the John Carver Inn, 25 Summer Street in Plymouth, Massachusetts. At the meeting we will briefly discuss our Reactor Oversight Process and then discuss with Enterfy our assessment of the safety performance of Pilgrim and their response to our assessment. The meeting is open to the public for observation. Following the presentation, the NRC staff will be available to answer questions from you and members of the public regarding the safety performance of Pilgrim and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations.

The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. We described our assessment results in a letter to Entergy on March 2, 2004. A copy of that letter is enclosed.
