On October 16, 2003, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting at the NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, with Carolina Power & Light Company (the licensee). The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the licensees request for relaxation from the NRC order for establishing interim inspection requirements for reactor pressure vessel heads at pressurized-water reactors. This was a follow-up meeting to one held on September 25, 2003. The licensee and the NRC staff discussed technical details of the licensees submittal of August 15, 2003. The licensee made additional presentations in support of their request, in great detail, and addressed NRC staffs questions from their review of the request. The list of attendees is attached. There were no handouts for the meeting.
