Re: Filing in Catawba-LTA Case

Dear Judge Young,

BREDL is also interested in resolving this matter promptly, and would be glad to discuss it at your earliest convenience -- but as I recall, the courtroom in Charlotte is not considered secure enough to discuss safeguards issues. If my understanding is incorrect, please let me know as soon as possible, so that I can be prepared to discuss BREDLs motion while we are in Charlotte.

In addition, Duke Energy does not believe that there is a need for additional security information in order to draft security contentions in this proceeding, and in that respect concurs with the NRC Staff.

Ms. Cottingham and I will be traveling to Charlotte on Wednesday morning and expect to see a copy of the motion when it is delivered by FedEx to Ms. Vaughn. We would be available to discuss this matter by telephone on Wednesday afternoon, but suspect others may be traveling at that time. If that is the case, we believe this matter should be addressed as a first agenda item at the prehearing conference on Thursday morning.
