SUMMARY
OF MEETING BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC) STAFF AND INDIANA MICHIGAN POWER COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES TO DISCUSS THE DONALD C. COOK NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION On September 26, 2003, the NRC staff met with members of Indiana Michigan Power Company (the applicant) in a public meeting to discuss the license renewal application (LRA) for the Donald C. Cook (Cook) Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2. The list of attendees is provided in, and the meeting agenda is provided in Enclosure 2.
The NRC staff presented an overview of the revised review process for license renewal application. Mr. Johnny Eads, NRC Lead Project Manager for the review of the Cook LRA, described differences between the former process and the new process with an emphasis on the duties of the audit teams. Mr. Eads discussed the proposed schedule for the first portion of the LRA review. Mr. Richard Grumbir and Mr. Robert Kalinowski of Indiana Michigan Power Company provided an overview of the Cook LRA format. The applicant discussed the features of Cook, LRA format, and its approach in applying NUREG-1801, Generic Aging Lessons Learned (GALL) Report, for the identification of plant components consistent with GALL programs and the application of past precedence.
