K/A SRO Only 1-R H

2 S

3 2-B F

1 U-1 3 {LOD <2 #1} Meets K/A, however due fundamental information and question construction this question exhibits very low discrimination.

LOD does not meet threshold of acceptability. Replace question.

Resolution, final submittal question based on new K/A {201002A1.03},

question is SAT 3-R H

2 3

4-R H

2 E-1 3 Change distractor D explaination. Resolution, final submittal contained additional explianation.

5-B H

2 E-2 3 {Low LOD #2} When the stem contains too large a series of conditions, there are inadvertently more clues provided, allowing the applicant to dismiss one or conditions embedded in the distractors; thus discrimination is lessened. The problem lies not in the format, but in the degree of verbiage that, in turn, provides hints. Each of the 5 conditions can be treated as a T/F statement against the events to determine the correct sequence. Stem says Div I out of service (oos), #4 only item with Div I in statement, eliminate Div I oos from stem and add to the first sentence only the following events occurred.

Resolution, final submittal question incorporated enhancements, question is SAT Instructions

[Refer to Section D of ES-401 and Appendix B for additional information regarding each of the following concepts.]

1.

Enter the level of knowledge (LOK) of each question as either (F)undamental or (H)igher cognitive level.

2.

Enter the level of difficulty (LOD) of each question using a 1 - 5 (easy - difficult) rating scale (questions in the 2 - 4 range are acceptable).

3.

Check the appropriate box if a psychometric flaw is identified:

The stem lacks sufficient focus to elicit the correct answer (e.g., unclear intent, more information is needed, or too much needless information).

The stem or distractors contain cues (i.e., clues, specific determiners, phrasing, length, etc).

The answer choices are a collection of unrelated true/false statements.

More than one distractor is not credible.

One or more distractors is (are) partially correct (e.g., if the applicant can make unstated assumptions that are not contradicted by stem).

4.

Check the appropriate box if a job content error is identified:

The question is not linked to the job requirements (i.e., the question has a valid K/A but, as written, is not operational in content).

The question requires the recall of knowledge that is too specific for the closed reference test mode (i.e., it is not required to be known from memory).

The question contains data with an unrealistic level of accuracy or inconsistent units (e.g., panel meter in percent with question in gallons).

The question requires reverse logic or application compared to the job requirements.

5.

Check questions that are sampled for conformance with the approved K/A and those that are designated SRO-only (K/A and license level mismatches are unacceptable).

6.

Based on the reviewers judgment, is the question as written (U)nacceptable (requiring repair or replacement), in need of (E)ditorial enhancement, or (S)atisfactory?

7.

At a minimum, explain any U ratings (e.g., how the Appendix B psychometric attributes are not being met).

U U-2

{DDS #1} Fundamental problem with the "double distractor set"

{DDS} question type, set too easily lends itself to low discrimination (e.g.

50/50) since the same distractor options are repeated twice alternatively within the set. Knowing one part of the answer allows 2 other distractors to be dismissed easily. See Appendix B.C 2.a. (Models C / D) by extending distractor quality via adding reasons (because, since, etc.) to distractor options. Distractor B and C option of starting an RHR pump and submitting a work order not plausible. Considering the typical time required to process a work order, would not expect a minimally competent operator to accept running RHR that long. Per the explanation given if PCV-2459 oos... bypass... & start RHRSW... A is partially correct and applicant can argue pressure irrelevant because of the procedure. Specific Determiners (C.2.m. (2)).

Resolution, final submittal question rewritten and is SAT 7-B H

1 U

U U-3 3 {DDS #2} {LOD <2 #3} Does not meet K/A. Given question construction, preventing pump damage fundamental GFES knowledge, thus LOD <2. {Question 10-B gives cue to pump min flow protection and 10 sec. time.} Resolution, final submittal question rewritten and is SAT, as rewritten question is H vs F.

Resolution, final submittal has enhancement incorporated plus question 7-B rewritten such that cue no longer exists.
