Dear Mr. Warren:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Region IV, has reorganized its Division of Reactor Safety (DRS) effective December 28, 2003.

The Divisions inspection duties were formerly divided among three branches:

Operations Branch Plant Support Branch Engineering & Maintenance Branch

  1. Operator licensing # Security # Safety System Design and
  1. Identification and # Radiological Performance Capability Resolution of Controls # Permanent Plant Problems (PI&R) # Emergency Modifications Preparedness # Inservice Inspection Activities
  1. Evaluation of Changes, Tests or Experiments
  1. Fire Protection
  1. Heat Sink Performance
  1. Maintenance Effectiveness Beginning in January, 2004, there will be four DRS inspection branches with inspection responsibilities as follows:

  1. Initial Operator Licensing # PI&R Lead Responsibility
  1. Operator Requalification Program # Fire Protection
  1. Emergency Preparedness # Heat Sink Performance
  1. PI&R Support # Maintenance Effectiveness

  1. Safety System Design and # Security Performance Capability # Radiological Controls
  1. Permanent Plant Modifications # PI&R Support
  1. Inservice Inspection Activities
  1. Evaluation of Changes, Tests or Experiments The reorganization of DRS and the reallocation of inspection duties required changes to the 2004 calendar year inspection schedule. The new DRS inspection schedule for your plant is attached.
