Withdrawal of License Amendment Request 01-0008 to Revise Technical Specification 3/4.3.1, "Reactor Protection System Instrumentation," to Delete Action and Enhance Specification Clarity (TAC No. MB3746)
Ladies and Gentlemen:
By letter dated December 17, 2001, (Serial Number 2724), the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) submitted an application (License Amendment Request (LAR) 01-0008) to amend the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS) Unit Number 1, Facility Operating License NPF-3, Appendix A, Technical Specifications. Supplemental information regarding LAR 01-0008 was provided by letter dated June 4, 2002 (Serial Number 2778), in response to discussions between the NRC and FENOC. Subsequent discussions regarding LAR 01-0008 between the NRC and FENOC have resulted in additional requests for information. In order to focus FENOC resources on the safe return to operation of the DBNPS, FENOC withdraws LAR 01-0008. LAR 01-0008 may be revised to address NRC requests for information and resubmitted in the future.
