.I Previous TVA/NRC Meeting Highlights

  • A three-unit application is acceptable for BFN
  • The Unit 1 current licensing basis (CLB) provides an adequate basis for an LRA
  • Operating experience for Units 2 and 3 is applicable to Unit 1
  • The BFN application will resemble multi-site applications previously reviewed by the staff
  • Differences between the Unit 1 CLB and the Units 2/3 CLB will be annotated in the application
  • TVA was requested to address the following items in the application:

Description and schedule for the resolution of Unit 1 CLB differences Effect of Unit 1 layup on the application

  • A final inspection of Unit 1 prior to restart may be needed to verify that actions required as a result of the renewal review have been completed TVA will provide notification when the documentation is available on-site
  • All three renewed licenses will be issued at the completion of the renewal review Additional license condition for Ul is acceptable Review may take longer than standard (proposed 1-3 months)

    • Draft application prepared (including environmental report)
  • Industry peer review completed
    • Site reviews in progress

Application Format and Content

  • Application conforms to the May 2003 standard format As modified by the presentation of Unit 1 CLB differences Temporarv differences enclosed in bold border ("boxes")

Permanent differences will be described in the text - currently none have been identified

    • TVA will submit a list of commitments with the application
    • Final and draft interim staff guidance addressed
