REPORT OF THE AUGUST 5, 2003, PUBLIC MEETING IN CHARLEVOIX, MICHIGAN ON THE LICENSE TERMINATION PLAN FOR BIG ROCK POINT NUCLEAR POWER PLANT On August 5, 2003, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at Charlevoix Stroud Hall, Charlevoix, Michigan. The meeting was held to provide information to the public on the Big Rock Point License Termination Plan (LTP). Formal presentations were made by NRC and Consumers Energy Company (licensee) staff. Enclosure 1 is the meeting agenda, and a list of attendees of the meeting is provided as Enclosure 2. Also, the copies of the slides used by the NRC and licensee are in ADAMS (ML032580208 & ML032580512).
Also, a copy of the transcript of the public meeting is available in ADAMS under accession number ML032340143.
The NRC and licensees presentations at the August 5, 2003, meeting provided the status of the decommissioning for Big Rock Point. NRC explained the LTP review and how the inspection process is handled during license termination. The licensee explained the content of the LTP. The public provided their comments about BRP; in general, the public was supportive of the activities at BRP.
