PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION - TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR, AMENDMENT NO. 176 (TAC NO. MB9013)
Dear Mr. Kansler:
On July 28, 1998, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 176 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-35 for the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. The amendment consisted of changes to the Technical Specifications (TSs) associated with the ultimate heat sink, salt service water system, and containment cooling system.
One of the changes approved by Amendment No. 176 involved administrative changes to reformat and repaginate TS Section 3.5, as described on pages 2-3 of the NRCs Safety Evaluation. However, when issuing Amendment No. 176, the revised TS page 3/4.5-8 included a typographical error which inadvertently changed a word in TS 4.5.D.1 from RCIC to HPCI.
As discussed in your letter dated August 14, 2002, the change made by error was not requested by the licensee, nor was it addressed in the notice to the public nor approved by the NRC.
The NRC staff is issuing the enclosed correction to the typographical error, as requested in your August 14, 2002, letter.
