San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3 (TAC Nos. M96862 and M96863)
Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is to inform the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that Southern California Edison (SCE) has completed all additional analyses associated with Generic Letter 96-06 "Assurance of Equipment Operability and Containment Integrity During Design-Basis Accident Conditions" and expects to confirm that the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Units 2 and 3 containment emergency cooling units (ECU) and the associated piping will withstand the loads generated by postulated waterhammer.
Therefore, it is expected that no corrective actions are required.
Although SCE committed to submit the summary report of the analyses and of the calculations by August 1, 2003, additional time is required to complete the calculations and the report. SCE will provide the summary report by October 1, 2003.
