Dear Sir or Madam:
By the referenced letter, Southern Califomia Edison (SCE) notified the NRC that the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Inservice Testing Program (IST) was being updated to the 1998 Edition through the 2000 Addenda of the ASME OM Code, and that SCE planned to implement the update with the beginning of the third 10-year interval on August 18, 2003.
Based in the NRC review schedule for relief requests submitted with the referenced letter, in accordance with Section Xl, Article IWA-2430 (c) of the 1989 Edition, and no Addenda, of the ASME Code, SCE is extending the SONGS Units 2 and 3 second 10-year IST interval to December 17, 2003. SCE still plans for the third 10-year interval to end on August 17, 2013.
