Project Status Contractors n Westinghouse is prime contractor providing new replacement reactor pressure vessel (RPV) heads n Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Kobe Japan, subcontracted to design and fabricate RPV heads 9

Project Status Scope n Kewaunee - New RPV head and CRDM n No Head Assembly Upgrade Package (HAUP) n Point Beach - New RPV heads and CRDMs n HAUP n Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) coil stacks n Thermocouple cables n Rod Position Indicator (RPI) and CRDM cables 10

Project Status Scope (continued) n New heads and CRDMs will be made and fabricated in Japan under Mitsubishi Heavy Industries quality program n HAUP will be fabricated in Pittsburgh under Westinghouses quality program 11

Project Status Details of RPV Head Scope n Single Piece Forging n Electro-Slag Welded Strip cladding n Alloy 600 Prohibited n Use alloy 690 tubing versus alloy 600 tubing n Use alloy 690 weld material versus alloy 600 weld material n Use narrow J-groove weld bevel n One piece L-106A CRDMs (one butt weld on latch mechanism) n Eliminate vent on each CRDM n Eliminate all seal welds n Eliminate spare and part length penetrations n Vent and Reactor Vessel Level Indication System Taps n Core Exit Thermocouple Nozzle Assembly (CETNA) 12

Installation n Westinghouse/ Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to arrange transportation of the new heads n Replacement RPV heads fit through equipment hatches at Point Beach and Kewaunee - No Integrated Leak Rate Testing required n Both sites will require interference removal 36

Installation Overview (continued) n Westinghouse to supervise old RPV head removal and new RPV head installation n NMC provide tools, craft labor and oversight n Head removal and reinstallation performed per standard outage requirements 37
