Dear Mr. Canady:

On August 3, 2001, you submitted a topical report to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) entitled Topical Report DPC-NE-1005P, Revision 0, Nuclear Design Methodology Using CASMO-4/SIMLATE-3 MOX (Proprietary)." The NRC staff has previously conducted its review pursuant to TAC Numbers MB2578, MB2579, MB2726 and MB2729.

On February 27, 2003, Duke Power Company submitted an application for revision of the operating licenses for the Catawba and the McGuire Nuclear Stations to allow the use of four mixed oxide lead test assemblies. The letter of February 27, 2003, indicated that the application is based, in part, on this topical report. Since the review of the remaining topical report issues will be integrated with the review of the February 27, 2003, application, we have determined that separate TAC numbers for the review of the CASMO topical report are no longer needed and may be closed. Accordingly, these TAC numbers will be closed as of the date of this letter.
