EMERGENCY PLAN REVISION OF EMERGENCY PLANNING ZONE (TAC NOS. MB8943 AND MB8944)
Dear Mr. Jamil:
By letter dated May 5, 2003, you submitted a proposed revision to the McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, Emergency Plan. The proposed change would revise the outermost section of Sector S of the Emergency Planning Zone boundary in response to the request of Gaston County and the town of Mount Holly.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has reviewed the information provided and has determined that additional information is required. Our questions are provided in the Enclosure.
We discussed these questions with your staff on July 8, 2003. Your staff indicated that a response could be provided by August 30, 2003.

Discuss whether the McGuire Emergency Plan or procedures provide for Protective Action Recommendations (PARs) beyond 10 miles.

Discuss the new distance from the plant to the Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) edge as it relates to the town of Mt. Holly.
3.
Provide a map that delineates the area of Sector S that will no longer be in the EPZ.
4.
Discuss those actions being taken to ensure that the town of Mt. Holly is aware that if PARs beyond 10 miles are made, the town will be affected.
