- 2. AmerGen/USNRC Telephone Conversation on June 23, 2003 In Reference 1, AmerGen Energy Company, LLC (AmerGen) requested a one-time schedular exemption from the requirements of 10 CFR 55.59(c)(1), which requires completion of the Licensed Operator Requalification Program within a two-year period. During NRC review of the request, it was determined that additional information was needed to complete the review. A conference call was held (Reference 2) to provide the information needed. During the call, AmerGen was requested to document the following information, which was discussed in the June 23, 2003 conference call.
As stated in Reference 1, the requalification program is being resumed in a modified form for licensed operators continuing to operate the plant. As discussed in Reference 2, the modified requalification program is systematically developed and approved per existing accredited processes and is being implemented with a training cycle beginning June 24, 2003.
Also as discussed in Reference 2, evaluations are to be conducted as part of the requalification program training given to non-striking Licensed Operations personnel during the period of the requested exemption. AmerGen will include a simulator evaluation for non-striking Licensed Operators in the requalification program training. This training and evaluation is currently planned for the training cycle during the August - September 2003 time frame.
