SUBJECT:
REQUALIFICATION PROGRAM INSPECTION AT INDIAN POINT POWER STATION, UNIT 3; INSPECTION OF REQUALIFICATION TRAINING AND NRC ANNUAL OPERATING TESTS, UNIT 2
Dear Mr. Dacimo:
In a telephone conversation on April 21, 2003, Mr. T. Fish, Examiner/Inspector, and Mr. F.
Wilson, Superintendent, Operations Training, made arrangements for the NRC to inspect the licensed operator requalification program at Unit 3. The inspection is planned for the week of July 7, 2003, which coincides with your regularly scheduled requalification examination cycle.
The staff at your facility should prepare and conduct the requalification examinations in accordance with your NRC-approved requalification program.
The inspector also made arrangements to conduct a partial requalification inspection at Unit 2.
The purpose is to observe portions of classroom training and administration of facility-administered NRC annual operating tests scheduled for Unit 2 operators the weeks of July 21 and August 11, 2003.
In accordance with 10 CFR 55.59(c), the NRC may request facility licensees to submit their comprehensive requalification written examinations or annual operating tests as necessary to support the NRCs inspection program needs. In order for the NRC to adequately prepare for this inspection, please furnish the examination schedule, sample plan, and operating tests scheduled for the week of the inspection to the NRC by June 23, 2003. Mr. Wilson has been advised of this request and provided with the name and address of the NRC lead inspector assigned to this inspection.
