DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 1 - POWER UPRATE LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NO. MB3280)
Dear Mr. Myers:
By letter dated October 12, 2001 (Serial Number 2692), FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) applied for an amendment to the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1, Facility Operating License No. NPF-3. The proposed change would increase rated thermal power approximately 1.63 percent.
Following the discovery of the reactor pressure vessel head degradation in March 2002, there has been little activity on this request by both FENOC and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) due to higher priority issues associated with the degradation. Since this higher priority work is still ongoing, the NRC staff is suspending review of your application and closing TAC No. MB3280. We will open a new TAC and recommence our review, when you submit a letter stating that FENOC is ready for the review to recommence. This plan has been discussed with your staff.
