The attached questions have been faxed to the BVPS 1 licensee regarding the NRC staffs requested steam generator pre-outage telephone call. These questions were discussed with the licensee during a conference call held on March 5, 2003.

QUESTIONS FOR BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNIT 1 PRE-OUTAGE STEAM GENERATOR CALL (TAC NO. MB7271)
Based on the recent findings at Diablo Canyon (circumferential cracking in the U-bend areas of higher row tubes; i.e., rows >4), the NRC staff would like to have a pre-outage call with the Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS) licensee to:
- 1. Make sure the licensee is aware of the findings at Diablo Canyon.
- 2. Discuss the licensees plans to address this concern for the upcoming BVPS, Unit 1 outage early next month.
- 3. Discuss the implications of the Diablo Canyon findings on BVPS and, if there are none, to discuss why not.
It would also be helpful to know if BVPS, Unit 1 or BVPS Unit 2 has any operational primary-to-secondary leakage - and if so, how much.
