NPF-63 INTENT TO SUBMIT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATIONS Ladies and Gentlemen:

By letter dated July 19, 2001, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L), informed the NRC of plans to submit a license renewal application for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Unit Nos. 1 and 2 during the first quarter of 2004. The current schedule for the License Renewal Project at BSEP indicates that CP&L, now doing business as Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc., will submit the BSEP license renewal application to the NRC in December 2004. The BSEP Unit Nos.

1 and 2 Operating Licenses expire September 8, 2016, and December 27, 2014, respectively.

By this letter, Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc., notifies the NRC of its intent to submit a license renewal application for Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP), Unit No. 1, in October-December, 2006. The SHNPP Operating License expires October 24, 2026.

By this letter, Florida Power Corporation, now doing business as Progress Energy Florida, Inc.,

notifies the NRC of the intent to submit a license renewal application for Crystal River Unit 3 (CR-3) Nuclear Generating Plant, in January-March, 2009. This notification supersedes all previous communications and correspondence, related to CR-3 license renewal. The CR-3 Operating License expires December 3, 2016.
