PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 -
RECEIPT OF PUBLIC PETITION FROM NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CENTER (NEPC) UNDER 10 CFR 2.206 (TAC NOS.
MB7373, MB7374 AND MB7375)
On February 4, 2003, Stephen Dembek and I called Thomas Saporito of NEPC, and informed him that NRC received his petition dated January 17, 2003.
I also informed Mr. Saporito that his petition will be made public since the 10 CFR 2.206 process is a public process, that I am the Petition Manager for this petition, that the Petition Review Board (PRB) will be meeting this week, and that I will be getting back to him after the PRB meets. I asked him if he had any questions, and he replied that he had none.
On February 5, 2002, Stephen Dembek and I called Mr. Saporito again and informed him that the PRB met and its preliminary conclusion was that the petition offered no specific supporting new information, and it therefore does not meet NRCs criteria for a 10 CFR 2.206 petition. We offered Mr. Saporito an opportunity to address the PRB by telephone or in person, to provide additional information. Mr. Saporito said that he would be available early next week, preferably February 11 or 12, 2003. We indicated that we would get back to Mr. Saporito.
