Tomorrow's Call With Dave Hi Mike, I got your message this aftemoon and understand your three questions to be as follows:
(1) Who will initiate the call?
(2) What is the topic?
(3) Is this a one-on-one call or can your staff participate?
Unfortunately, I must defer to Dave to provide his preference on the third question. But my suspicion is that Dave wants a one-on-one call with you.
However, I can answer the first two questions. Dave will call you, and the topic will be the status of the SER for license renewal. Because the responses from Duke were not effective in resolving 6 SER open items, the staff is unable to close them in its SER, which is scheduled for issuance January 6, 2002.
Additionally, the staff is concemed with a recent change to the McGuire/Catawba LRA which involves the removal of the SG divider plate and the pressurizer spray nozzle thermal sleeves from the scope of license renewal to resolve a problem with the ISI Plan that was identified by the Region II inspection team.
Lastly, the staff is requesting Duke to make a commitment to incorporate the pending resolution (to be specified in a final interim staff guidance document) of an issue pertaining to scoping, screening, and aging management of fuse holders.
