RESULTS OF DAM SAFETY AUDIT RELATED TO THE CATEGORY I SERVICE WATER POND DAM AT THE CATAWBA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Dear Mr. Peterson:
On July 26, 2001, an audit was conducted at the Catawba Nuclear Power Plant for the Category I Service Water Pond Dam. The NRC staff has received and evaluated the final report from its technical assistance contractor, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), related to this audit. The inspection team did not observe any conditions that should adversely affect the immediate safety and permanence of the project. No maintenance or operation-related conditions that would adversely affect the operation and maintenance of the facility were observed. No new recommendations were made as a result of the inspection or review of the previous inspection.
An original copy of the FERC report, dated October 24, 2001, which includes color photographs taken of various areas that were inspected during the audit, has been provided as an Enclosure. The enclosed report is classified as Non-public and should not be made available to members of the general public.
