Nine Mile Point Unit 1 Docket No. 50-220 License No. DPR-63 Special Report, Channel # 11 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System Inoperable for Performance of Scheduled Preventive Maintenance Gentlemen:
In accordance with Action Statement 4.a of Nine Mile Point Unit 1 Technical Specification Table 3.6.11-2, Accident Monitoring Instrumentation Action Statements, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC is submitting the following Special Report concerning the inoperability of the Channel #11 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System.
Description of Event On January 7, 2003, at 0440 hours0.00509 days <br />0.122 hours <br />7.275132e-4 weeks <br />1.6742e-4 months <br />, the Channel #11 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System was removed from service to allow performance of scheduled preventive maintenance. The Channel #1 1 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System was de-energized to allow replacing the electrolytic capacitors of power supply PWRS-(1S50)-24VDC. Isolating the power supply from its 120 VAC power source, also required isolating 120 VAC power to Channel #11 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System.
The redundant Channel #12 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System was in service prior to removing Channel #11 from service.
Maintenance was completed and the Channel #11 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System was restored to service on January 10, 2003, at 1452 hours0.0168 days <br />0.403 hours <br />0.0024 weeks <br />5.52486e-4 months <br />.
Cause of Event The Channel #11 Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System was removed from service to allow performance of scheduled preventive maintenance.
