Dear Mr. Hairston:
This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. John Giddens of the Southern Nuclear Operating Company and Mr. Curtis Rapp of this office concerning a meeting to be conducted on February 27, 2003, from 8:30 a.m., (CST) until 3:00 p.m., (CST). Your staff requested this meeting to discuss licensee performance, new initiatives, and other general issues pertaining to the Farley, Hatch, and Vogtle plants. The meeting agenda is provided as an enclosure to this letter. The location of the meeting will be at the Southern Nuclear Companys headquarters, 40 Inverness Parkway, Birmingham, AL. This meeting will be a Category 1 meeting in which the public is invited to observe and will have one or more opportunities to communicate with the NRC after the business portion, but before the meeting is adjourned as per the NRC policy statement Enhancing Public Participation in NRC Meetings, published in the Federal Register: May 28, 2002 (Volume 67, Number 102, Page 36920-36924).
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS).
