SUBJECT:

KEWAUNEE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT - REVIEW REGARDING PROPOSED AMENDMENT REQUEST TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION SECTION 4.6, PERIODIC TESTING OF EMERGENCY POWER SYSTEM, NOVEMBER 22, 2002 (MB6883)

During the review of the subject proposed license amendment, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff determined additional information was necessary to perform its review.

In accordance with Nuclear Reactor Regulation Office Instruction 101, the attached draft request for additional information (RAI) was sent via e-mail on December 20, 2002, to G. Riste of Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) at Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant. A conference call was held between the NRC and NMC staffs on December 20, 2002. NMC requested not to receive the RAI questions in a letter, but NMC stated it would attach the questions discussed during the conference call as an attachment to its response letter to the NRC. NMC also stated that it would respond to the NRC in early January 2003.
