MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - MEETING CATEGORY 1 - LICENSEE PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF ROOT CAUSE INVESTIGATION RESULTS FOR A DEGRADED MITIGATING SYSTEMS CORNERSTONE FOR SHEARON HARRIS - DOCKET NO. 50-400
Dear Mr. Scarola:
This letter confirms the telephone conversation between John Caves of your staff and George MacDonald of this office on October 8, 2002, concerning a Regulatory Performance Meeting, Public Meeting Category 1, which has been scheduled for November 14, 2002, from 11:00 a.m.
to 12:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the two white performance issues in the Mitigating Systems Cornerstone which is considered a degraded cornerstone. Per our Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix, a Regulatory Performance Meeting is required to discuss the performance issues, underlying causes, and planned licensee actions.
The location of the meeting will be at Harris Energy and Environmental Center Board Room, 3932 New Hill-Holleman Road, New Hill, NC 27562. This meeting is an open meeting as per "Staff Meetings Open to the Public; Final Policy Statement" (September 20, 2000; 65 FR 56964). This meeting is designated as a category 1 meeting in accordance with Commission Policy. As such, meetings in this category are typically held with one licensee to discuss particular regulatory issues regarding their specific facility. At this type of meeting, the NRC anticipates that the public would obtain factual information to assist in their understanding of the applicable regulatory issues and NRC actions.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
