Subject:

McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 1 Docket No. 50-369 Steam Generator Tube Inspection Report for End of Core (EOC) 15 McGuire Nuclear Station (MNS) Technical Specifications 5.6.8.a. and 5.6.8.b. requires the number of tubes plugged in each steam generator to be reported within 15 days and the results of the Steam Generator Tube Surveillance Program to be reported within 12 months, respectively.

MNS Technical Specification 5.5.9.3.a establishes inspection frequencies for the steam generator tubing. If two consecutive inspections, not including the preservice inspection, result in all inspections falling into the Table 5.5-2 C-i category or if two consecutive inspections demonstrate that previously observed degradation has not continued and no additional degradation has occurred, the inspection interval may be extended to a maximum of once per 40 months.

A pre-service inspection was conducted during the lEOCI I steam generator replacement outage.

Inservice inspections have been completed during 1EOC12, 1EOCl3, and 1EOC14 with all results falling into the C1 category. During the lEOC15 outage, no inspection of steam generator tubing was conducted and no tubes were removed from service for plugging. Based on these criteria, steam generator tubing will not be inspected until lEOCI6 which will meet the criteria for a maximum 40 month inspection interval.

Any questions concerning this submittal may be directed to Kay Crane at 704-875-4306.

Sincerely, D. M. Jamil
