SUMMARY OF PUBLICALLY OBSERVED INSPECTION

50-277/02-10 EXIT MEETING ON AUGUST 15, 2002

On August 15, 2002 at 7:00 p.m., an exit meeting was conducted at the Peach Bottom Inn,

Restaurant and Lounge, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and Exelon

Generation Company, LLC. The purpose of the meeting was for the NRC staff to convey the

results of the NRC team inspections conducted as part of the review of Exelons application for

license renewal for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station.

The meeting was opened by Michael Modes, Senior Reactor Inspector, Division of Reactor

Safety and leader of the team inspection. The meeting was attended by Wayne Lanning,

Division Director, Division of Reactor Safety. The NRC briefly summarized the findings of the

inspection. Approximately 6 people, other than the NRC and Exelon, attended the meeting.

At the end of the meeting between Exelon and the NRC public attendees were offered the

opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials. Numerous questions were asked over a two hour

period. The following issues were discussed: dry cask storage, fuel pool integrity, financial

liability and license renewal. These questions and comments were addressed by NRC

management.
