6. Conclusions The staff performed its review of the McGuire and Catawba license renewal application in accordance with Federal regulations and the NRC draft Standard Review Plan for Review of License Renewal Applications for Nuclear Power Plants, issued July 2001. The standards for issuance of a renewed license are provided in 10 CFR 54.29.

On the basis of its evaluation of the application as discussed above, the staff has determined that, on favorable resolution of the open items identified in Section 1.4 of this report, and the implementation of the confirmatory items identified in Section 1.4 of this report, it will be able to conclude that the requirements of 10 CFR 54.29(a) have been met.

The staff notes that any requirements of subpart A of 10 CFR Part 51 will be documented in the plant-specific supplement to the Generic Environmental Impact Statement. Should the resolution of subpart A 10 10 CFR Part 51 be favorable, the staff will be able to conclude that the requirements of 10 CFR 54.29(b) have been met.

At this time, no matters have been raised under 10 CFR 2.758 that need to be addressed. The staff reserves judgment regarding the requirements of 10 CFR 54.29(c) until such time that it can determine if matters have been raised under 10 CFR 2.758.
