Duke Application Responses to RAIs Rani:
I've reviewed Duke's answer to RAI 3.2-4 on RHR system where we asked they didn't identify cracking as an applicable effect for the carbon steel RHR Pump Seal Water HX Shells (under internal treated water conditions) when they did identify it as being applicable to the carbon steel RHR HX shells under the same environmental conditons. Duke agreed that cracking should have been an effect for the carbon steel RHR Pump Seal Water HX Shells as well and credited the Chemistry Control Program as the only program for managing the effect.
This brings us to some of our other earlier RAls as what Duke's justification is for concluding that the Chemistry Control Program is by itself capable of managing the effect. We had similar type of questions for the AMRs on the RCS.
Duke already owes me a teleconference to confirm some assumptions I made when I did the independent review of the applicant's responses to our RAls on the TLAAs for the reactor vessels (i.e., TLAAs on PTS and upper shelf of the reactor vessel materials). Tell Duke to add my inquiry on their response to RAI 3.2-4 to the list of things we will discuss.
