Groundwater Monitoring Concern

Rani, Debbie and I have discussed the concern about future changes to groundwater that might occur and actions that Duke would take in response to such an unlikely event.

We propose to add the following to the UFSAR Supplement Summary Description for the Inspection Program for Civil Engineering Structures and Components after the last paragraph (the current last paragraph applies to results of the inspections; this new sentence will apply to any future environmental events that could impact groundwater quality):

"In the event that a non-radiological chemical event occurs that has the potential of impacting the site environment, including the groundwater, a PIP will be initiated. Specific corrective actions, including but not limited to testing groundwater quality, are implemented in accordance with the Problem Investigation Process."

Please discuss with your reviewer and let me know staff reaction. Bob CC:

Re: UFSAR Supp Summary for Crane Inspection Program (adder)

Okay - thanks. I just sent another note about other references. We aren't sure if these other documents were used by Duke to set up their AMPs. As such, it can be clarified via the UFSAR Supplement update.

As I read the response to RAI B.3.10-1 I see no specific reference to ANSI B30.2.0.

Re: UFSAR Supp Summary for Crane 06/06/2002 Inspection Program (adder) 01:57 PM Thanks, Bob. Is there a reluctance to reference the standard in the UFSAR supplement by name (ANSI B30.2.0)?

Rani, Debbie and I have your request of earlier today and propose that we can add the following to the UFSAR Supplement summary description of the Crane Inspection Program for each station:

Add the following sentence to Acceptance Criteria "The acceptance criterion is in accordance with the criterion identifed in ASME/ANSI requirements and OSHA regulations."

Please advise if this is acceptable. Bob CC:
