SITEK RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has named Mark A. Sitek Resident Inspector at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, a nuclear power plant near San Clemente, Calif. He joins Clyde C.

Osterholtz, the Senior Resident Inspector at the plant.

Mr. Sitek graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering in 1996. Following graduation he was selected for the NRCs graduate fellowship program and subsequently joined the NRC at its headquarters office in Rockville, Md. As part of the fellowship program, he earned a master of science degree in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999.

While at NRC headquarters, Mr. Sitek held the positions of general engineer and health physicist in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards. Mr. Sitek is also a qualified materials health physics inspector.

Mr. Sitek resides in Mission Viejo, Calif. with his wife Samantha.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
