I am responding to your letter of May 2, 2002, to Chairman Richard A. Meserve regarding a proposal to build a gas-fired power plant adjacent to the Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed its review and has concluded that, based on the information available at this time, the proposed plant does not pose a hazard to the safe operation of LGS. I am enclosing a letter to Mr. Thomas DiBello, Chairman of the Limerick Township Board of Supervisors, with additional details about the NRC staffs review.
