ISSUANCE OF RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSES NOS. DPR-31 AND DPR-41 FOR TURKEY POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNITS NOS. 3 AND 4
Dear Mr. Stall:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued Renewed Facility Operating Licenses Nos. DPR-31 (Enclosure 1) and DPR-41 (Enclosure 2), together with the Technical Specifications, Appendix A (Enclosure 3), and the Environmental Protection Plan, Appendix B, (Enclosure 4), for the Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Units Nos. 3 and 4 (Turkey Point Units 3 and 4). These renewed facility operating licenses have been issued on the basis of our review of your application dated September 8, 2000, as supplemented and amended by letters dated January 19, February 8, February 16, February 26, March 22 (two letters), March 30 (four letters), April 19 (three letters), May 3, May 11 (two letters), May 29 (two letters), June 25, July 18, August 13, November 1, November 7, and December 17, 2001, and April 19, 2002.
The technical specifications for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4, were not amended as a result of our review.
Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-31 (the renewed license for Unit 3), expires at midnight July 19, 2032. Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-41 (the renewed license for Unit 4), expires at midnight April 10, 2033.
The technical basis for issuing the renewed licenses is set forth in NUREG-1759 and Supplement 1, "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Turkey Point Nuclear Plant, Units 3 and 4, dated April 2002 and May 2002, respectively. The results of the environmental review related to the issuance of the renewed licenses are contained in NUREG-1437, Supplement 5, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 5, Regarding Turkey Point, Units 3 and 4," dated January 2002.
J. A. Stall Enclosure 5 is a copy of the related Federal Register notice of issuance of the renewed licenses. The original has been sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
