Dear Mr. Meserve:
As I am sure you can appreciate, all of us in Ocean County are concerned that there be adequate security at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station in Lacey Township. As Freeholder-liaison to the County Department of Law and Public Safety, I have been in regular contact with the Ocean County Sherif~ Prosecutor and our Emergency Management personnel ever since the terrorist attacks of September 11 tho As I know you are aware, the local agencies have been involved in a cooperative effort with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and with the New Jersey State Police.
I am very impressed with the professionalism ofall the agencies involved in this effort.
Nevertheless, given the recent warnings from the Vice President and other federal officials, I am writing to request your assistance in regard to assuring our residents that security at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station, which is overseen by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, is at the proper state ofheightened readiness.
I very much appreciate your assistance in this matter.
