SUMMARY
OF CONFERENCE CALL REGARDING REACTOR VESSEL HEAD INSPECTION ACTIVITIES AT SEABROOK STATION, UNIT NO. 1 (TAC NO. MB4577)
On May 28, 2002, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a conference call with North Atlantic Energy Service Corporation (the licensee) to discuss the results of the licensees reactor vessel head inspection performed at Seabrook Station, Unit No. 1, during the May 2002 refueling outage. The call was conducted as a result of the identification of recent reactor vessel head degradation as discussed in NRC Bulletin 2002-01, Reactor Pressure Vessel Head Degradation and Reactor Coolant Pressure Boundary Integrity.
During the call, the licensee indicated that during the refueling outage they had performed a 100% visual inspection of the reactor vessel head and head penetration nozzles and that there was no evidence of boric acid deposits or corrosion.
