April 8, 2002 Mr. John L. Skolds, President Exelon Nuclear Exelon Generation Company, LLC 4300 Winfield Road Warrenville, IL 60555

Dear Mr. Skolds:

We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) correspondence dated February 27, 2002, transmitting the FEMA final report for the November 28, 2001 radiological emergency preparedness plume pathway exercise at the Byron Generating Station.

No deficiencies were identified during the exercise. However, two Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCAs) were identified.

We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that assistance, if appropriate, will be extended.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/NRC/ADAMS/index.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
