Haas 10269 US-31 North General Manager Charlevoix, Ml 49720 February 22, 2001 Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-155 - LICENSE DPR BIG ROCK POINT PLANT - DEFUELED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE REQUEST DATED AUGUST 10, 2000 On August 10, 2000, Big Rock Point submitted a Defueled Technical Specification change request to establish a program for disposal of non-radioactively contaminated demolition debris; the proposed change also would have established a Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) establishing lower detection limits for radiation detection equipment which would have been used to determine that demolition debris contained no radioactive material.
On January 3, 2001, The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff responded to the change request and stated that the request cannot be processed as proposed. The staff requested that Big Rock Point respond within 60 days to state our decision to either resubmit our August 10, 2000 request as a 10 CFR 20.2002 request or withdraw our docketed proposal.
Please be advised that Big Rock Point will submit information to support a 10 CFR 20.2002 request, and hereby withdraws its request dated August 10, 2000 to change the Big Rock Point Defueled Technical Specifications.
