STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON FORT CALHOUN STATION, 9:00 A.M., TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2013, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the NRC staff and representatives of the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) and Exelon on the progress of addressing performance deficiencies at Fort Calhoun Station. OPPD was represented by W. Gary Gates, President and Chief Executive Officer; Lou Cortopassi, Site Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer; Mike Prospero, Plant Manager; and Kerry Ihnen, Manager of Nuclear Oversight. Exelon was represented by Susan Landahl, Senior Vice President of New Development.
The staff should provide the Commission with the background and history associated with the use of Teflon seals on containment electrical penetrations at Fort Calhoun Station. This information should include any generic actions the NRC has taken on this issue, including actions subsequent to the discovery of Teflon seals at Fort Calhoun.
