2. Letter from OPPD (R. T. Ridenoure) to NRC (Document Control Desk), Submittal of the Fort Calhoun Station (FCS) Inservice Inspection (ISI) Program Plan for the Fourth Ten-Year Interval (2003 2013), November 5, 2002 (LIC-02-0124)

SUBJECT:

Withdrawal of the Fort Calhoun Station (FCS) Fourth Interval ISI Program Plan Relief Request RR Limited Examinations In Reference 2, Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) submitted the Inservice Inspection Program Plan for the fourth ten-year interval which included Relief Request RR-1. RR-1 requested relief from the ASME Code requirement to inspect 100% of each weld examined during the 3rd Interval weld inspections. This request has been determined to be premature since additional welds (which may not allow 100% inspection) are scheduled for inspection during the remainder of the 3rd interval during the fall 2003 refueling.

FCS is hereby withdrawing Relief Request RR-1 from the ISI 4th Interval Program Plan submission (Reference 2).

A subsequent request for relief from the ASME Code requirement, not associated with the program plan submittal, will be submitted when all third interval data have been collected and evaluated. This request will be submitted before February 15, 2004, which will allow sufficient time for NRC approval before September 25, 2004, within 12 months following the end of the 3rd ISI inspection interval which ends September 25, 2003.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact Dr. R. L.
