A AR EVA Technical JustificationII 9.0 RESULTS OF PERFORMANCE DEMONSTRATION A "blind" demonstration of the procedure, equipment, and personnel was conducted in accordance with the demonstration protocol specified in Reference 10.3. AREVA procedure 54-UT-I114-000 (Reference 10.6) was used for the blind demonstration and modified to address lessons learned during the demonstration (i.e., 54-UT-i114-001 - Reference 10.7).

The blind demonstration included the scanning and data analysis of an OTCP and ITCP lid weld mockup containing a number of controlled weld manufacturing flaws that were not made known to those performing the analysis (in accordance with reference 10.6). Scanning included the flaw detection phase where flaws that exceeded the recording threshold of the procedure were recorded for further characterization using the sizing scans called for by the procedure. Two separate data analysts participated in this demonstration, each working independently using the same governing procedure (reference 10.6).

A synopsis of the results are listed in Table 9-1. The full report of the demonstration is contained in Reference 10.5. The probability of detection (POD) was calculated to be 97%.

One false call was reported. The flaw sizing accuracy (length and through wall (height) -

(TWS) in inches) was calculated for each analyst in accordance with reference 10.3. The results presented in Table 9-1 are separated by each analyst and each weld.
