On June 12,2003, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Generic Letter (GL) 2003-01, "Control Room Habitability," requesting information on this subject (Reference 1). In response to this NRC request, NMC submitted the requested .

information for Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant on November 18, 2004 (L-MT-4-049) (Reference 2) and for Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant on December 9,2003 (L-PI-03-114) (Reference 3). As part of these responses, NMC committed to submit corresponding Technical Specification (TS) changes to incorporate a Control Room Integrity Program within 180 days from the NRC issuance of TSTF-448 for adoption. On July 3, 2007 (Reference 4) NMC notified the NRC of a commitment change to submit TSTF-448 related TS changes for PlNGP and MNGP.

Due to several current activities related to the reorganization and restructuring of the operation of the NMC plants, NMC is notifying the NRC staff of a revised commitment date for the respective LAR submittals for PlNGP and MNGP. The revised commitment is to submit the TSTF-448 related LARSfollowing the guidance of the consolidated line item improvement process (CLIIP) by January 16,2008. The revised commitment is within the timeframe typically requested (one year) for TS changes published in the Federal Register using the CLllP process. This change in commitment has been discussed with Peter Tam, NRR Project Manager.
