Re:

Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-25 I Control Room Habitabilit By letter dated February 2, l987 the NRC issued Amendment No. I2I to Facility Operating License No. DPR-3I and Amendment No.

I I5 to Facility Operating License No.

DPR-4I for Turkey Point Units 3

and 4, respectively.

These amendments modified the Technical Specification 3.4.7, Control Room Ventilation, Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) to allow a

one-time additional 45 day LCO to permit implementation of modifications required to satisfy NUREG-0737 Item III.D.3.4, Control Room Habitability requirements.

In our application dated August 25, l986 we stated that work on the modifications would begin within 90 days of the implementation date specified in the license amendment.

Because of the extended Unit 3 and 4 outages, and to reduce the amount of congestion and interference in the control room during unit startup, the work will not begin by July 2, l987 as originally intended.

As discussed with Mr. D. G.

McDonald, NRC Project Manager for the Turkey Point Plant, implementation of the required modifications will begin after both units return to power.

This work is scheduled in the Integrated Schedule for the Turkey Point Plant which is being reviewed by the NRC Staff.

FPL will keep Mr. McDonald and Mr. D. R. Brewer, the Senior Resident Inspector, informed of the progress of these modifications.

If there are any questions, please call us.

Very truly yours, C. O.
