Re:
Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-25 I Turbine Runback Lo ic Modifications As discussed in the February 20, l984 meeting with NRC Region II Staff in Atlanta and FPL letter L-84-36 issued February 2I, l984, provided below is a summary of the enhancements which have been made in the nuclear unit power runback logic on both Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 as a result of the task force review of the original logic design.
A)
B)
Enhanced redundancy in the Rod-on Bottom signals in the Rod Position Indication (RPI) rack by providing two separate RPI signals into the turbine runback initiating logic.
II Modified the governor runback and load limit runback logics so that either a RPI or a one-out-of-four nuclear instrumentation (NIS) flux rate signal (when selected) will initate both the turbine governor and load limit runbacks.
C)
Modified the load limit runback logic so that a steam generator feedwater pump breaker trip with turbine first stage pressure above 60 percent load will automatically initiate a turbine runback.
Should there be any questions on this information, please contact us.
