Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

Re: Turkey Point Units 3 and 4.

Do'cket-Nos.

50-250 and 50-251 Generic Letter No. 83-28 Section 2.2.2 As stated in our'etter of March 1, 1984, Florida Power and Light Company has actively participated in the'NPO Nuclear Utility Technical Advisory Committee (NUTAC) on NRC Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2. 2. 2.

This item concerned a Vendor Equipment Technical Information'rogram (VETIP).

The NUTAC document identified a

program to ensure that plant personnel have timely access to information regarding safety-related components.

The major portions of the program which the NUTAC recommends as the responsibility of the individual utilities are summarized below:

1.

Direct NSSS Vendor Contact 2.

Nuclear Plant Reliability Data System (NPRDS) Participation 3.

INPO Significant Event Evaluation - Information System (SEE-IN) Participation 4.

Control of Incoming Equipment Technical Information.

Florida Power and Light Company already has arrangements in place for contacts with our NSSS vendor s.

We are also full participants in INPO administered NPRDS and SEE-IN programs.

Offiqe of-Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention:

Mr. Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director Page 2

The implementation of the items summarized above provides an alternate approach to the handling of Vendor Technical Information.

It emphasizes communications between utilities as well as the procedural control of Vendor Equipment Manuals.

This approach allows Florida Power and Light to focus resources towards areas where the greatest potential for equi pment problems exist.

Very truly your s, J.
