Turkey Point Unit 4 Docket No. 50-251 Pressure Vessel Material Fracture Toughness NUREG-0744 Rev.
1 NUREG-0744, Rev.
1 outlines an acceptable method of fracture mechanics analysis to be per formed to demonstrate the existence of adequate margin when the fracture toughness requirements of Appendix G to 10 CFR 50 are not met.
Our letter L-83-55, dated February 3, 1983 discussed our intent to submit such an analysis by early November 1983.
The analysis has been initiated and is well underway.
- However, we were forced to utilize generic fracture-mechanics data due to the lack of plant specific.
information.
Recently we have become aware of the exi stence of Turkey. Point-.
plant specific data and are finalizing arrangements to obtain it.
In view of' the fact that there are considerable benefits to be gained by the use of such plant specific information, we now intend to postpone completio'n of the analysis until we receive the new data.
We now plan on a submittal date of May 1, 1984.
